About the project
The Graveyard Shift is a Supernatural comedy, That I started working on in 2017 when I was 15 years old, Since developing the story it has now grown to a pitch I am quite proud of, Pitched at Dingle Film Festivals ' The Big Pitcher' in 2024, This page of the portfolio is dedicated to the on going work that is currently happening as I try to create a pilot episode worthy of YouTube and pitching.
Through out creating this project I have learned allot, such as acting as Casting director and hosting auditions for the pilot episode, going over 1,000 auditions and leading interviews. Sourcing composers to create original music (see below), As well as learning how to operate different software's such as Maya, Blender and Toon boom.
Below is reel of storyboards, Animation and tests so far that I have made, Including an original instrumental I sourced a composer to make.
THE CAST!
Andre Ghosh
Moody, Socially awkward and blunt, Andre is a clairvoyant who want's to be anything but. While most would thrive with such an ability, Andre has a hard time viewing ghosts as people and interacting them, Often blaming his talent for why he does not have any living friends.
His dislike of the dead is what leads him to moving to
Nowheres ville for college, Hoping the lack of living population would also mean a lack of ghosts. (Spoiler: It didn't.)
A character with many flaws, Andre has a hard time realising that most of his problems are his fault, which is where the ghosts step in to give him life lessons
Eddie Del-Mar
Social, Witty and kind of lazy, Eddie is a sarcastic spirit from 1987 who still thrives on retro games and trashy magazines, What is his unfinished business? No one knows! He puts in great effort to riddle his way out of talking about what lead him to here.
Our introduction to ghosts, Eddie acts as Andre's foil, The complete opposite of one another in almost everything, It is no surprise to anyone that these two can never agree on anything.
Yet beneath the whole cool and unbothered persona, Eddie proves himself to be most 'alive!' out of the spirits, so it is no surprise those who work in the store look to him as their leader in moral dilemmas. Could this leader behaviour be something to do with his living life?
Ethel Grimmes
Level headed, Smart and curious about the strange, Ethel is a ghost with a interest in all things odd, A woman of science when alive, Now that she is the one thing she never believed in, She finds herself fascinated with all around her.
Usually the one who breaks up Eddie and Andres disagreements (Usually by siding with her best friend Eddie) Ethel acts as Andres bridge to understanding ghosts, as they are able to relate on not being able to see ghosts as people to some extent, Ethel having already jumped that hurdle and Andre still there waiting to leap.
Tonya Vandergiest
Energetic, Outgoing leader of the theatre society and Andre's housemates, Tonya is our local sceptic who does not believe in ghosts at all, A cup goes flying across the room? Must of been an earth quake, A shadow across the wall? She just needs more sleep.
A perfectionist to the point of self destruction, she and Andre start off on the wrong foot but soon Tonya becomes Andre's first living friend. Even if she doesn't believe in all this ghost 'Nonsense'

Locations
Mourge N Sons
Mourge N' Sons is the 24 hr supermarket that Andre work's at, On the edge of Nowhere's Ville the store is very rarely visited by anyone unless they happen to be passing through, Making it the ideal shop for those of the...not so living variety.
Nowheres Ville
Just a drive by town, Nowheres-Ville is a radio quiet town in the middle of-..well. Nowhere! Far up north where it always snows it is a less than ideal place to call home unless you are looking for boredom! luckily it's dwindling and small population is just what Andre want's! After all the less people the less ghosts. Right?

Comedy Episode that introduces us to Limbo through a football match between Mourge N sons and the rival store, Winner gets Andre's (Soul) Contract, Resulting in him having to ask Eddie for help.
Mid Season Climax
Each season has an emotional core episode, Essentially an episode that touches on the more serious undertones of the show, An example of this is ^ft Forward now renames Fractured frames. An episode on Eddies life before he ended up in limbo and how he and his Dad never made a mesne on a disagreement that was had before hand. Andre tries to clear it up. The episode touches on talks of grief and specifically a parents Greif, a topic rarely touched on in animated media.
Societal Differences Animatic
Season 2: Lost At Sea
Each season continues to follow Andre's journey into becoming a better person, But focuses on a different theme each season with a new ghost lead who best fits the lesson at hand to be learned.
Season 1 is Eddies season that's about forgiveness, Season 2 and 3 focus either on Ethels lesson about perspective or Darla's season about family.
We follow the youngest member of the ghost troupe, Darla, A ghost girl from 1914 as we learn her family still have not found her as the afterlife is a large place. But how she still believes they will eventually find her again.
The season focuses on Andres on going problems with his own Mother who he struggles to connect to, After pushing her away in his teenage years, A season about reconnecting and learning to not lose hope .
